Skims - Comfy & Cute

We've all heard of The Kardasian family right? The family has 26 companies to their name since the early 2000's and their empire is still growing. Kim, being the most well known Kardasian, owns a very popular lingerie and loungewear clothing line called Skims. She has recently released a new set of lounge dresses that are very comfortable yet sculpt the body nicely. Skims customers have stated online that it forms to your figure no matter what body type you have and is extremely comfortable. This interests me because (1) I've also heard that they are very comfy, and (2) I've always wanted one. These dresses look stunning on people, I have to have one for my nights out.

Skim's motto is "Made For Every Body". The brand's online information page states,"Skims is a solutions-oriented brand creating the next generation of underwear, loungewear and shape wear." Everything they make and sell is sold in all sizes, skin tones, and colors. It's a very inclusive clothing brand that has the sole purpose of helping their customers be comfortable in their own body.

Although clients have been stating that these dresses are very comfortable and sculpt your figure, they are also known to be somewhat see through. Though most people love the gowns and don’t mind them potentially being a little sheer. If you wear proper undergarments, no one should see anything, right? Apparently that’s not the case. A dress review on TikTok posted by @thinjen shows how undergarments can be seen very easily and, “it’s not giving walking around in public”. Besides, Skims is a loungewear clothing brand. If you’re at home lounging around, you don’t need to worry about wearing undergarments or anyone seeing. Or clients could buy a darker color such as brown or black, so light does not pass through the fabric as easily.

The word got out that the dresses are very comfortable and sexy. Plus, everyone wanted the “Kim Kardasian” look. Influencers, fans, and fashion enthusiasts got the world out. All these reviews you see on Twitter or TikTok are earned media. It’s all organic content that Kim Kardasian didn’t pay for. People just started posting pictures and videos of themselves trying on their new Skims dress and they went viral. Skims hasn’t specifically responded to these viral videos, but they'll comment on a viral review at most. They are a very big brand and have lots of social media content coming in daily for all of their genres of clothing. Of course they can’t respond to all of it, but they listen and change their designs to fit clients needs.

Skims is very professional and only post models and members of The Kardasian family wearing their clothing. It would be a good way to bring clients in if they started reposting their good reviews from customers every so often. It would make their clients feel more included with the company. It’s the buyers that share how good the dresses make them feel, repost it to the company social media stories and share it with the world. Throughout doing the research for this blog, I have realized that ideas can be shared so easily and spread so rapidly on social media. I also learned that social media is the perfect way for a company to listen and learn what their customers might be concerned about and fix them. It’s free marketing and product insight! Having a celebrity be the owner is a huge help, but the people who post on social media spread the idea and actually sell it.
